How To Do This Whole Podcasting Thing….

Well, first off all, we want to thank you with our whole hearts for joining us on this adventure. Since not everyone is a regular podcast listener, we thought we may take a moment to help you give it a try if this is new to you.

If you ever listen to the radio in the car, or play some tunes in your earbuds while working around the house, podcasts may be right up your alley. Think of it like being able to find a radio show on any topic that you may be interested in and listening at your own convenient time and being able to pause, rewind, and skip commercials to your heart’s content. My favorite time to listen to a podcast is if I have a long car ride, or especially during school pickup lines, or when I am working out or cleaning the house. But my favorite thing about podcasts is how much I learn in such a short amount of time. Some of the podcasts I listen to also have zero educational value, but I always start to feel like the hosts and I are buds. We hope that you feel that way about us too, because we are all in this together.

Pick an App

The first thing that you will want to do is decide what app you want to use. If you are an iPhone user, they make this super easy by having a great podcast app integrated into your phone and all of your Apple services called, Podcasts. If you are not an iPhone user or you want an app with different features there are many to consider, but the more popular ones include Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, Downcast, and Overcast. So, go ahead and select an app and download it to your phone or tablet.

Find Your Shows

The next thing that you want to do is find shows that you would like to subscribe to so that you can easily find a list of all of their episodes and so when new episodes come out, they will automatically queue up on your device so it is ready to listen to when you are. Each app is different but generally you will be able to search by name or browse by category.

Subscribe

Before you move forward, make sure you subscribe to Fostering The Future. You can use the links above or search in the app. If you have an iPhone, they make this really easy. You can just say “hey siri subscribe to the fostering the future podcast”. Voila! If you have an Android – pick one of the buttons above. Once you are subscribed, you will automatically receive new episodes. But while you are waiting, you can view all of the existing episodes.
